I have M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Florida and undergraduate degrees in English, Communication Arts, and Special Education. I have been teaching students with learning disabilities for 30 years in private, public, and clinical/research settings. I have used Orton-Gillingham techniques and had OG mentors from the beginning of my teaching career. I am trained in several Orton-Gillingham based programs, am a Subscriber member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators and have completed coursework at the Certified level. I currently run Aiken Learning Lab, a private practice, serving students with reading difficulties, providing direct remediation services as well as informal diagnostic testing. I have a SC Professional Certificate in the field of Learning Disabilities and am designated Highly Qualified in Elementary Education by the Aiken County Public Schools. I am President of the South Carolina Branch of IDA and serving on the Board of Directors for the Learning Disabilities Association of South Carolina. My areas of interest include early identification and effective intervention for reading disabilities and the use of research-based instruction.
