This presentation will discuss an innovative model of continuing professional development in addressing the needs of children with literacy difficulties, robustly tested on a wide-scale level across Northern Ireland. The aim of this model was to enhance the expertise of teachers in participating primary schools. The approach to achieving this was the development of knowledge and expertise within each school via a whole-school online course for all teachers and the development of further specialization of two teachers in each school. This project is set within the context of inclusive education, a concern worldwide in achieving literacy targets.
