S13 - Benefits of Mindfulness and Metacognition in the LD Classroom

Oct 29, 2016 10:30am ‐ Oct 29, 2016 11:30am

Description

As the field of mindfulness becomes increasingly popular, how can we use these strategies to support students with LD and ADHD? This presentation will discuss ways that the practice of mindfulness can be used as a tool to support students’ emotional regulation and attentional capacity for better functioning in the LD classroom. This session will include current research on mindfulness and LD/ADHD, a description of how mindfulness is being used to support the academic program at Delaware Valley Friends School, and several mindfulness practices and strategies for use in the classroom.
