This very practical presentation will start with recognizing and writing very basic sentences and go on to expand them with question words, taking participants through simple, compound, and complex sentences without relying on traditional grammar. The parts of the sentence are both shape-coded and color-coded. Simple paragraphs will then be introduced with emphasis on the topic and controlling idea and very basic visual organizers. Each activity will use direct instruction, moving from teacher modeling with oral and written language through guided practice and on to culminate in independent writing.
