Description

Academic writing is one of the most challenging tasks for struggling students. As students progress through high school and beyond, text-based writing assignments increase in length and complexity, placing greater demands on effort, language skills, and executive function. This session explores the specific impact of executive function difficulties on producing high level academic writing. It models effective instructional strategies for students who struggle with producing writing to deadline, focusing on approaches that capitalize on student strengths while supporting or scaffolding areas of difficulty.
