Reading is a complex task that requires facility with distinct and separate skills to achieve comprehension. This session will describe the critical skills beyond decoding that contribute to comprehension. Presenters from the Orton‐Gillingham, Slingerland, and Wilson Language Approaches will then discuss the ways each address comprehension, including key elements which contribute to it, such as oral language, vocabulary development, grammar, and fluency. such as oral language, vocabulary development, grammar, and fluency.
