Parenting a child with LD can feel confusing and lonely. The amount of information to absorb is overwhelming, compounded by feelings of grief over lost time or undue pressure placed on the child, even disillusionment with educators. This session will map out a path from awareness to advocacy, covering ways to educate yourself about your child’s rights, understanding the balance of remediation and accommodations, and strategies for partnering with educators. The presenters will also share personal tips on becoming a persuasive advocate as well as a parent's role in systemic advocacy efforts.
