Many individuals who have dyslexia also have ADHD. In this presentation, ADHD will be defined, its relationship to dyslexia described, and how ADHD should be assessed. Poor reading performance and ADHD have similar behavioral attributes; the avoidance of reading. The presentation will address evaluation and diagnosis, appropriate accommodations including environmental and technological supports, and current treatment approaches with a focus on nonmedical interventions such as the efficacy of docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acid (DHA/EPA).
