The purpose of this symposium is to advance practitioners’ understanding of the relations between between speech disorders, language disorders, hearing loss, and learning difficulties.
Speakers present scientific findings that:
(a) clarify the relation between speech impairment and risk for dyslexia
(b) address the implications of co-occurring language impairment and dyslexia
(c) explain how hearing loss can lead to decoding difficulties.
This symposium concludes with a panel discussion on the implications of co-occurring speech, language, and hearing disabilities for policy and practice with children with dyslexia.
