2019 Reading, Literacy & Learning Virtual Conference

SA7 - Leveraging State and District Leadership to Improve the Quality of Reading Instruction for All

Nov 9, 2019 10:00am ‐ Nov 9, 2019 11:30am

Standard: $20.00

Description

Districts and schools throughout the U.S. are increasingly using evidence-based practices within tiered support systems to achieve excellence and equity. Students with dyslexia can be effectively served within these practices. One of the challenges of applying evidence-based practice is knowing whether it will be effective in achieving the same outcomes in different contexts. This session will provide “the what,” “the who,” and “the how” of implementation science to improve the quality of reading instruction for all students.

Mary Wennersten is the vice chair of the International Dyslexia Association board of directors. Mary Wennersten and Carrie Thomas Beck have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.

Speaker(s):

  • Mary Wennersten, M.Ed., Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist, M.Ed., Mary Wennersten
  • Carrie Thomas Beck, Ph.D., Dyslexia Specialist, Oregon Department of Education
