This session reviews what brain research reveals about sight word processing and how whole word instruction impacts the formation of reading networks. Participants will deepen their understanding of the role of sight words in reading development and learn how to help children recognize words to support reading fluency. Participants will learn how to select informative assessments and set appropriate goals. In the end, participants will connect science, assessment, and effective instruction to support long-term growth in reading.
