Description

The purpose of this session is to discuss several challenges that are inherent in the assessment and diagnosis of dyslexia, including: the current identification procedures under IDEA 2004; the recognition of additional cognitive correlates beyond phonological awareness; the difficulty with early identification; the dilemmas of twice-exceptional students, as well as English Language Learners; and the existence of co-occurring disorders, such as ADHD and language impairment. Suggested solutions will be provided to address these challenges.
